Roc Nation's J. Cole recently talked about his forthcoming debut album and how he is not allowing fear of dismal record sales to play with his mind.
When asked if he was scared of being unable to live up to sales expectations, Cole admitted his confidence in the upcoming LP.
"Nah, they're not the same. I don't have a fear of not delivering, I know I'm going to deliver, and I don't have a fear of sales because - I wouldn't call it a fear of sales because I don't place that much emphasis on the sales, but I definitely have an excitement over the sales. I want to sell a godrillion. But I'm not scared I'm going sell 10,000 records. I'm not afraid of that." (I Luv Lola)
I don't think J. Cole can push more 100 000 copies in a week. I don't see the hype around him. All his recordings i've heard so far are just avarage.
ReplyDeleteI actually think dude is good. The only thing he’s missing is that good song. As far as his skills is concern I think he’s on the same level as Drake if not better.
ReplyDeleteCome on dude, u pushing it. The only thing that makes him sound that cool is the fact that people compare him to Nas, which i honestly know why and remember nas has struggled to pull any descent numbers in a week. And the fact he’s signed by Jigga. Let me remind u, Jigga doesn’t have much eye in scouting rappers, remember Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel
ReplyDeleteHey dude, don’t get me wrong, I know Cole won’t outsell Drake, co’s he’s not a commercial type. But the cat posses, all the talent Drake has. And to top it all dude produces most of his material. How many new rappers who would resist having many features in their album, especial having Jigga in their corner. Dude is brave, I bet he’s got a classic is the making. Don’t compare him to Bleek and Sigel, cos none of them possess half the skill dude has.
ReplyDeleteLet me jump in right there. Im with Ice on this one, I think J. Cole is high up there with the likes of Drake, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj. By the look of things it seem like Cole is not after the commercial market, if he was I bet he would have listed Mr West, Just Blaze, Timbaland, Pharell to give him that number, because he’s got them at his disposal. But as far as the talent is concern, there’s no question about it, go back and listen to Jay-Z’s Star Is Born, Who Dat, Higher, Blow Up.
ReplyDeleteHow come none ya'll are mentioning Tyga and Kid Cudi in yo lines.
ReplyDeleteDude forget Kid Cudi, cos dude can't rap for shit, with Tyga you might have a point.
